Between Two Skies
Seven movements form one continuous emotional journey: from the ordinary certainty of home, through rupture and displacement, to the strange work of rebuilding a life somewhere new.
Between Two Skies is a contemporary dance-theatre suite in seven movements. Each movement has its own musical identity, but together they form one continuous dramatic arc.
A five-note motif — D, F, A, G, E — recurs in altered forms throughout the suite. A wooden flute inspired by the Ukrainian sopilka first appears as a sound of home and later returns as memory. In the final movement, the expected last note is withheld: the future remains unwritten.
The central visual and verbal transformation is NOWHERE → NOW HERE. One small space changes everything. Yet arrival is not the same as belonging; the work is interested in the long psychological distance between the two.
